Hi Nooklings,
This feels very exciting as it's officially my first time writing our newsletter!! Laura did an absolutely cracking job with last month's edition so I have some big shoes to fill this month.
So, what’s new? Nook life has been pretty slow and wholesome this month for us, we’ve been making our way through our autumnal bookish bingo and doing lots of spooky activities. Unfortunately as the darker months draw in, my immune system also decides to hibernate for a while, so cold and flu season is in full swing in our Nook.
Podcast Highlight
The Enchanted Booknook has had a wild month! We spent 44 minutes talking about our bookish Smash or Pass in Episode 15 (And our friendship was really tested here) as well as talking about Spooky Recommendations in Episode 16… Where Laura almost kicked me out of the house for the certainty in my voice when I said I’d sleep with Dracula. My dear friend and fellow Nookling has now lent me Dracula to read, so I think by next month I’m going to have a whole lot of regret about that statement!
If you haven’t already caught up on our podcast you can find the recent episodes here and you can share my shame once I find our Dracula is in fact not a sexy vampire at all.
Monthly Reading Club
What are blondesbooknook reading at the moment?Well we’re reading what every Romantasy Book girly is reading, ACOTAR 6!! Can we all take a minute please, this has been a long time coming and as I write this it isn’t even published yet but I already know that the second its in my hands I am going to be a feral animal.
Outside of ACOTAR I am currently reading Spell Caster by Jasmin Eve, it's about a magical university with a magical system and enemies to lovers (obvs) so I am naturally having the best time with it.
Laura is currently reading Tough Guy by Rachel Reid, which is a Game Changers novel. If you don't know Game Changers, what rock have you been under?! Game Changers is the book series that Heated Rivalry is a part of, and if you haven’t watched Heated Rivalry we might have to revoke your access to the Nook.. Joking! But honestly the books and the series are great and I highly recommend (As I’m sure Laura would too) Who doesn’t love MM Sports romance?!
You also may have heard that we’ve started a virtual bookclub! We love to keep busy, and November will be our first virtual read. We have two genres on offer at the moment, but we’re hoping as our little Nookling family grows we’ll be able to offer a lot more! If you’re interested in joining ping us a message!
Our picks for the November reading club are Drum Roll Romatasy: Kiss of the Black Flame - Helen Scheuerer & Sci fi: Dungeon Crawler Carl - Matt Dinniman
What a long update! Who knew I would make the bit about books last the longest. I’ll sign this bit off with our favourite reads of October.
Alice: The Sweetest Fiend - Raven Kennedy
Laura: Reaper at the Gates - Sabaa Tahir
Upcoming Releases
May I take this moment to once again shamelessly peddle our Book Release Tracker (Avaliable to download for free here ) as Laura did a phenomenal job creating and coding it!
The November releases that I am most excited about are:
A Conspiracy of Charming Monsters by Holly Black (Available for pre order here). Anyone that knows me knows that I have SUCH a soft spot for Carden, so I always love an excuse to return to the world of Elfhame and I hear will get a Carden short story in there👀 Boy, does that King know how to yearn.
We’re also expecting a new Adrienne Young novel in December! It's the second in the Fallen City Duology, and December means it gives you plenty of time to read the first one. I also highly recommend her Fable series! The pirates, the adventure, the vibes are all immaculate.
Remy has now sat on my head so I think thats time for me to sign off and have cat cuddles. To quote a wise woman quoting Michael Scott, catch you on the flippity flip.
